As much as we strategize and plan, things are not always going to be without speed bumps. It’s how we respond to those unexpected occurrences that shows the world who we really are.

Make a plan and execute against that plan because when you do that you’re going to be amazing on stage. The opposite is also true.

Feedback can be powerful and it can also be paralyzing. Be sure that you’re asking for the right feedback at the right time.

The Day Before
Find a way to get into the location where you’re speaking the night before, the day before or the day of. Do everything you can to know your environment. Walk that stage.

The Morning Of
Rushing around. No plan. Huge carb-heavy breakfast. Poor hydration. Freaking out. No warmups. I’ve seen all these things. In fact, I’ve DONE most of these things and these mistakes can be detrimental to you being amazing on stage.

Your audience does not want to hear you recite your bio. They can go to your website for that. Instead, give them something of real value.

Your talk is not judged on the content alone. Your performance matters.

You’ve got to be okay with being vulnerable up there and sharing what your topic really means to you.
You're not in the perfect business. Stop pretending that's what the world wants from you. Truly perfect is becoming friendly with your imperfections on the way to doing something remarkable.
