No matter if we are sharing a story or explaining a lesson learned, as speakers we are always striving for continuity in our delivery.
The storyteller character and the teacher character need to be consistent, or your audience will feel an abrupt (and distracting) transition as you move through your Talk.
There is an opportunity to pay very close attention to the place where your stories end and your teaching or lessons begin. Those transitions should feel seamless to your audience.
At the end of your Talk, you can reference your opening story or a one of the main takeaways of that story in order to help anchor an idea or lesson for your audience.
When we move from sharing a story to teaching a lesson as speakers, that transition needs to be a smooth as silk. If it’s not, the audience will feel it.”Kymberlee Weil
